Have you ever been listening to the radio when a song comes on that makes you just stop and think, "Yeah, that's exactly it. That's what life is all about." Now, don't judge me, but I kind of like country music (not all of it, mind you, just some). So, I was listening to a country music radio station and this song comes on...
They called him crazy when they started out
Said seventeen's too young to know what loves about
They've been together fifty-eight years now
That’s crazy
He brought home sixty-seven bucks a week
He bought a little 2 bedroom house on Maple Street
Where she blessed him with six more mouths to feed
Yeah that’s crazy
Just ask him how he did it; he'll say pull up a seat
It'll only take a minute, to tell you everything
Be a best friend, tell the truth, and overuse I love you
Go to work, do your best, don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy
They called him crazy when he quit his job
Said them home computers, boy they'll never take off
He sold his one man shop to Microsoft
They paid like crazy
Just ask him how he made it
He'll tell you faith and sweat
And the heart of a faithful woman,
Who never let him forget
Be a best friend, tell the truth, and overuse I love you
Go to work, do your best, don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin knees get lazy
And love like crazy
Always treat your woman like a lady
Never get too old to call her baby
Never let your prayin knees get lazy
And love like crazy
They called him crazy when they started out
They've been together fifty-eight years now
Ain't that crazy?
I just thought I would like to share those lyrics with anyone who might come across my little blog here. The artist is Lee Brice, in case you were wondering.
The very first verse of this song is definitely my favorite. My grandparents were sixteen years old when they got married and to this day, I have yet to meet a couple more in love. I'm seventeen now and plan to spend at least the next fifty-eight years with a certain someone. The chorus has got so much heart and so much truth. I want to be the best friend I can be to everyone who needs one. I think the line "never let your praying knees get lazy" reminds us to always remember what's gotten us to where we are: Jesus Christ. Finally, the main point of the song is to "love like crazy." I don't think this means the romantic kind of love. That one's easy. I believe it's saying to love when and who it's difficult to love. Love when times are hard. Love someone who gets on your nerves. Love against all odds. Show justice, mercy, and compassion even when it feels insane. Love like crazy.
